Laya Yoga-Attunements in Mantras

Level One
You are invited on a journey where we will study in depth the seven major chakras (centres of consciousness and energy) according to the Yoga tradition. One by one we will study each chakra- location, symbols, esoteric anatomy, chakra psychology etc. There will be the initiation in the mantras for energising the chakras. Cost: £55/lesson
The workshops will be held at UKHolistics from 6pm until 9pm. The programme is as follows:

Base Chakra Wednesday 3rd February 2010
Sacral Chakra Wednesday 3rd March 2010
Naval Chakra Wednesday 7th April 2010
Heart Chakra Wednesday 5th May 2010
Throat Chakra Wednesday 2nd June 2010
Third-Eye Chakra Wednesday 7th July 2010
Crown Chakra Wednesday 4th August 2010

Level Two
On this level, participants will receive the initiation in the Thunderbolt Mantra - the mantra of Chinamasta from the Tantric tradition. The mantra is used to activate the central channel - Sushumna Nadi - of our subtle anatomy.  This is the energetic pathway that links all the major chakras. The workshop will focus on the underpinning theory as well as the attunement in the mantra. Cost: £75
Requirements: minimum three month between level one and level two.

Sunday 21st March 3.30-6.30pm, contact Stefan to book your place.

Level Three
On level three we will have three lessons- the attunements for the mantras of the higher levels of the Crown Chakra- Sahasrara. These are used to connect to the higher levels of consciousness. Each lesson will include the attunement, the theory and the recommendations for practice of each level.
Requirements: minimum 12 month between level two and level three; but, for this level it is necessary to be accepted prior to the attunements (regular practice and personal experience are essential in order to be prepared for this level).

These sessions can change without warning, please e-mail for correct times and places and to reserve your place on the course.
General information

This is a course for the few who are interested in self- development, self- healing and self- realisation. One of the most effective ways to meditate and gain access to specialised forms of energy and levels of consciousness is through the use of mantras.

Working with mantras has always been an esoteric and very secretive practice in Yoga, maybe because it is one of the most direct ways to connect our self to universal levels of energy and consciousness.

There are studies where you can discover various aspects about mantras and their use. If you read a book about mantra work and try using one or more mantras from there, usually you will find that even though the idea of working with mantras is very attractive and for many people it feels strangely familiar, it feels like the practice is not efficient. There is something missing. The missing link is the Initiation, the Transmission that makes the mantra operational and helps to enter in resonance with a specific level of manifestation. After the initiation, the meditation will never be the same.

Also, we will study various ways (external and internal methods) to use mantras. The external methods are very easy and accessible to most people- chanting, constant repetition (japa) etc. The internal methods are the most effective and less mechanical path. Each mantra is a verbal representation of a subtle energy, a subtle sound which is not produced by physical means, but it permanently exists in manifestation. After the initiation we can use this subtle sound as an object for our meditation and learn how it creates a process of resonance between our being and a correspondent level from the macrocosm.

A mantra is a subtle sound that is charged with psycho- spiritual power, a sound that empowers the mind; a vehicle for meditative transformation of the human mind-body and it is considered to have a magical potency.

The benefits of working with mantras are many. They are tools that enable us to enter in the spaces of consciousness that correspond to the chakras. We can learn how to open and balance each chakra. We can increase vitality, will power, empathy, intuition, and the ability to concentrate. Through the development of our energy structure, we can improve our health and wellbeing as well as amplify our healing abilities. There are many more benefits that will be explored during the workshops.

“Mantra is in the nature of Shiva (Supreme Consciousness) and Shakti (Kundalini Power); Mantra arises from the Muladhara. Those who are able to hear the mantra or to expound it are rare“ (Yogashikopanishad, 2.5).
