Level Two
Level Three Working with mantras has always been an esoteric and very secretive practice in Yoga, maybe because it is one of the most direct ways to connect our self to universal levels of energy and consciousness. There are studies where you can discover various aspects about mantras and their use. If you read a book about mantra work and try using one or more mantras from there, usually you will find that even though the idea of working with mantras is very attractive and for many people it feels strangely familiar, it feels like the practice is not efficient. There is something missing. The missing link is the Initiation, the Transmission that makes the mantra operational and helps to enter in resonance with a specific level of manifestation. After the initiation, the meditation will never be the same. Also, we will study various ways (external and internal methods) to use mantras. The external methods are very easy and accessible to most people- chanting, constant repetition (japa) etc. The internal methods are the most effective and less mechanical path. Each mantra is a verbal representation of a subtle energy, a subtle sound which is not produced by physical means, but it permanently exists in manifestation. After the initiation we can use this subtle sound as an object for our meditation and learn how it creates a process of resonance between our being and a correspondent level from the macrocosm. A mantra is a subtle sound that is charged with psycho- spiritual power, a sound that empowers the mind; a vehicle for meditative transformation of the human mind-body and it is considered to have a magical potency. The benefits of working with mantras are many. They are tools that enable us to enter in the spaces of consciousness that correspond to the chakras. We can learn how to open and balance each chakra. We can increase vitality, will power, empathy, intuition, and the ability to concentrate. Through the development of our energy structure, we can improve our health and wellbeing as well as amplify our healing abilities. There are many more benefits that will be explored during the workshops. “Mantra is in the nature of Shiva (Supreme Consciousness) and Shakti (Kundalini Power); Mantra arises from the Muladhara. Those who are able to hear the mantra or to expound it are rare“ (Yogashikopanishad, 2.5). |
